Damascus Lunch: April Report

The Damascus 12 heralded the first meeting for the year, and what a meeting it was. With ten quests in attendance, the team served a wide selection of pizza and garlic bread. For dessert, everyone enjoyed the delicious chocolate marble cheesecake. It is amazing how a good meal brings people together.

The atmosphere was buzzing with inquisitive conversation. For many, it was the first time meeting with one another, but over the meal, our guests were able to get to ower their guards and engage in frienldy chit chat. Viken, the guitar virtuoso, provided a great show of a mixture of classic, modern and Spanish guitar. He offered some helpful tips for the beginning guitarists (including me!). Viken also announced that he would love to play at our next meeting in May.

I want to offer a huge thank you to the team for volunteering their time on Saturday to set up, invite, welcome our guests and clean up. The Lord Jesus has gifted us in many different ways, by his Spirit, to proclaim his good news. This was most evident on Saturday in watching the team work together in many different ways.

During the interlude, Rhys spoke on the Parable of the Great Banquet. He emphasised how God has invited us into a loving relationship with him. Sadly, we have rejected him. Jesus, who is God, came to earth to seek and rescue the lost and bring us back to his Father. The talk raised a few talking points amongst the guests and we pray that they may come to know Jesus personally.

If you missed Saturday’s event and would like to come along to the next meeting, Saturday 7th May has been locked in. Times and locations will be announced at a later date. Please don’t hesitate to email us at damascus12@hotmail.com.
