On Saturday, 3rd September 2011, the Damascus team gathered together to invite people who ventured out for a day of fun in Sydney. About twenty guests graced the Upper Chapter House of St Andrew’s Cathedral. We enjoyed a sumptuous lunch of chicken and salad, rounded off with a tasty cake for dessert. A big thank you to Cristina and Ben for setting up the hall in such an attractive way, and to Deb and Willem for organising the delicious lunch.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit, the Damascus inviters took to the streets of Sydney inviting all to come and enjoy some lunch and conversation. As people arrived, Viken, the guitar virtuoso, entertained all with a bright array of songs. Lunch was served as the friendly banter grew.
At the conclusion of lunch, Ben presented the gospel ever so clearly. He challenged all, Christian and non, to consider their lives and hand over control to the sovereign God of the universe. He demonstrated how poorly our lives have been governed in light of a Holy and righteous God, and he identified our greatest need – to trust and love Jesus Christ!
A big thank you to all the team who came together to serve on the day. If you are interested in attending, or even serving at a Damascus lunch, please email me at damascus12@hotmail.com. Our next lunch will be on Saturday, 1st October, in the Upper Chapter House.
